CAMARILLO AYSO SOCCER VIP PROGRAM

The Camarillo AYSO VIP Program provides a quality soccer experience for children and adults aged 4 1/2 and up whose physical or men

tal disabilities make it difficult to successfully participate on mainstream teams.

VIP teams may include but are not limited to those who are:

Blind or Visually Impaired
Amputees or conditions that impair mobility
Mentally or emotionally challenged
Autistic
Cerebral Palsy
Down Syndrome

In the American Youth Soccer Organization these individuals are Very Important Players (VIP). AYSO recognizes that everyone needs to feel a sense of belonging and acceptance. Through participation in soccer VIP players experience all of these and more.

VIP provides integration with non-disabled people or "buddies" who assist VIP players on the field.

Buddies begin to form friendships with peers.
Buddies learn and grow from performing a positive service.
The players learn to become comfortable with people outside their families.
Buddies can earn community service credits.
Best of all - buddies who assist VIP players on the field have a life changing experience.

2013 Strawberry Cup Tournament

Includes VIP Flight

This summer, a full VIP division was included in major mainstream tournaments in Sections 10 and 11.  Section 10's 19th Annual Strawberry Cup (pictured right) covered two weekends in May and hosted 219 mainstream teams and nine VIP teams.  The same month, Section 11 held their Mike Fults Memorial Beach Bash Tournament with 114 teams, including VIP teams.  Adding a VIP flight to any mainstream tournament is a great way to add value and distinction.

"VIP players and families bring an infectious spirit to the hearts of the mainstream program participants, families and volunteers," said Donna Nelson, Section Director for Section 10. "It's a great way to breathe more life into a tournament."
