TOURNAMENT CANCELED - Note from Regional Commisioner - Update 03/03/2020

Dear California Strawberry Cup applicants,

Thank you all for Volunteering for AYSO. On April 1st, 2020, the Region 68 Executive Board met, and we regret to inform you that after much discussion and deliberation that we have decided to cancel the 2020 California Strawberry Cup. Region 68 will not be rescheduling the 2020 Tournament. Next steps for the Tournament Staff is to return the tournament applications and checks to your Regional Treasurers.

We have not deposited any checks or monies as a precaution. Please contact your Regional Treasurer if you have any questions on your Team Tournament funds. We will be returning the application packets via US Mail. In accordance with the California Strawberry Cup Team Refund Policy, a full refund will be issued if the tournament is canceled and cannot be rescheduled.

Camarillo AYSO Region 68 is focused on safety regarding human health, and as such Region 68 has a particular responsibility to do all we can to help contain the spread of COVID-19 for ourselves, our families and our communities. We can continue in our mission to serve our AYSO Players, Volunteers, and Parents. Region 68 believes this will help move us through this period of uncertainty and return to regular AYSO business-as-usual as quickly as possible. As the Tournament Director, I wish you all, good health, and safety in these uncertain times. We hope to see you all in 2021!

March 29th, 2020 Update

Dear California Strawberry Cup potential Attendees,   
       
Another two weeks have passed as we continue to monitor the situation. Thank you all for Volunteering for AYSO. 

Over the past two weeks, our Nation continues in the challenges of COVID-19 have dominated our conversations here in California. Your health and safety are of the highest importance and we here in Region 68 appreciate your understanding in this matter during these trying times.

Camarillo AYSO Region 68 is focused on safety regarding human health, and as such Region 68 has a particular responsibility to do all we can to help contain the spread of COVID-19 for ourselves, our families and our communities.  We can continue in our mission to serve our AYSO Players, Volunteers, and Parents.

On March 13, 2020 Ventura County Public Health declared an emergency in the county, we now have multiple COVID-19 cases reported.

Region 68 continues to be guardingly optimistic.

We are sending you an additional email communication of your intent to participate in this year’s Cup. 

Please respond no later than April 1st, 2020 by 5:00 PM.

Our Tournament Dates are:
May 9 & 10 (Boys 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 19U)

Our revised GO-NO GO decision date for the Boy’s weekend will be determined on or about April 1, 2020.

May 16 & 17 (Girls 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 19U)
Our revised GO-NO GO decision date for the Girl’s weekend will be determined on or about April 10, 2020.
Our Team Refund Policy:  A full refund will be issued if the tournament is canceled and cannot be rescheduled. If a team withdraws 30 or more days before the tournament, a full refund will be given. Within 30 days of the tournament, no refund is provided unless a replacement team that can pay the entire registration fee is found.
Referee Refund Policy: Refundable within 30 days of the last day of the tournament, if referee assignments have been completed.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but Region 68 believes this will help move us through this period of uncertainty and return to regular AYSO business as usual as quickly as possible. As the Tournament Director, I urge you to make your own decision whether to attend this year’s Strawberry Cup. You are responsible for your health and safety regarding COVID-19 if you attend.

Over the past few months, the challenges of COVID-19 have slowly begun to dominate our conversations around the world and now here in California. Your health and safety are of the highest importance and we here in Region 68 appreciate your understanding in this matter during these trying times. In regards to the outbreak, we encourage you to follow the preventive measures recommended by the CDC to help stem the spread, which can be found here: https://www.aysovolunteers.org/coronavirus-update-and-prevention-tips/.

Camarillo AYSO Region 68 is focused on safety regarding human health, and as such Region 68 has a particular responsibility to do all we can to help contain the spread of COVID-19 for ourselves, our families and our communities.  We can continue in our mission to serve our AYSO Players, Volunteers, and Parents.

On March 13, 2020 Ventura County Public Health declared an emergency in the county as a third COVID-19 was case reported.

Currently, many US Professional Sports Teams have canceled or delayed the start of their regular seasons.

The current recommendation as of March 13, 2020 from our Section 10 Director is to postpone all Practice, Spring Leagues, and Tournaments until April 1, 2020.

Region 68 is guardingly optimistic. Our California Strawberry Cup registration will remain open, as we continue to plan to host approximately 280 teams over two weekends. 

Our Tournament Dates are:
May 9 & 10 (Boys 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 19U)

The Go-No Go decision date for the Boy’s weekend will be determined on or about April 3, 2020.
May 16 & 17 (Girls 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 19U)
The Go-No Go decision date for the Girl’s weekend will be determined on or about April 22, 2020.

Team Refund Policy:  A full refund will be issued if the tournament is canceled and cannot be rescheduled. If a team withdraws 30 or more days before the tournament, a full refund will be given. Within 30 days of the tournament, no refund is provided unless a replacement team that can pay the entire registration fee is found.

Referee Refund Policy: Refundable within 30 days of the last day of the tournament, if referee assignments have been completed. Each team is asked to complete 8 referee assignments during the tournament. Referees may only represent one team per weekend. All 19U and 16U teams should provide at least one National Referee or Highly Qualified Advanced Referee with a minimum of Intermediate Referees or higher as AR support. Partial refunds will be given based upon the number of referee assignments completed.
