AYSO Fall 2018 Season

Welcome Camarillo AYSO Region 68 SOCCER Season! I am excited about another year of world-class youth soccer. I am excited to be the Regional Referee Administrator. I am taking over for Kevin Churchill who has done an amazing job overseeing the referee program for the past three years.

We have a few changes for the 2018 Fall season.

  • Minor rule changes with regards to the Player Development Initiative
  • Referees will not be assigned to 6U, 7U or 8U game, the teams will supply referees for their own game
  • Newer referees who feel they need to build some confidence can shadow another referee on 10U and 12U games

As a thank you to our returning Referee’s, we are holding our Returning Referee BBQ on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at 4:30 pm at the Pleasant Valley Fields on the east end. We will provide good food and update you on law and rule changes.

As an additional thank you, when a referee completes five games, you will receive a gift of either a referee hat, referee thermos or referee flags (while supplies last). For those referees that complete 10 games, you will receive a new high-quality referee jersey, but supplies are limited.

If you have been a Regional Referee we encourage you to take the Intermediate Referee Course that will be held over three evenings the week starting September 17, 2018. If you have any questions about refereeing this year, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]

Looking forward to a great soccer season!

How to Fill Out a Game Card

New "No Heading Rule"

1) Consistent with the U.S. Soccer mandates on heading the ball, heading is banned for all division players 12U and below in both practices and games.

Heading for players in 14U is limited to a maximum of thirty (30) minutes per week with no more than 15-20 headers, per player. There is no restriction on heading in matches.

2) An indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team if a player age 10 or younger, deliberately touches the ball with his/her head during a game.

    a. The indirect free kick is to be taken from the place where the player touched the ball with his/her head.

    b. An indirect free kick awarded to the attacking team inside the opposing team’s penalty area, must be taken on the penalty area line parallel to the goal line at the point nearest to where the player touched the ball with his/her head.

3) Neither cautions nor send offs shall be issued for persistent infringement or denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity related to the heading infraction.
